FSUCML Lecture Series
April 26, 2014
Please join Audubon Florida and FSUCML for a presentation and field trip by
Audubon Florida’s Bonnie Samuelsen
April 26, 2014. 8 AM – Auditorium FSU Coastal & Marine Lab
3618 Highway 98, St. Teresa, FL 32358
850-697-1420
Ms. Samuelsen is Project Manager for Audubon Florida’s Coastal Bird Stewardship Program in northwest Florida.
You will see and hear about the delightful courtship displays, amazing camouflage, aerial attacks, and survival needs of both solitary and colonial nesting species. There will certainly be a series of ” too cute” photos as she talks about chick rearing.
Learn about the issues facing these important Florida birds: beach impacts, habitat decline and predation
and hear about statewide efforts to reverse the declining population trends.
Following the presentation, the group will carpool to Bald Point State Park for a guided shorebird walk with John Murphy, Audubon Florida’s Coastal Bird Tech, and Bonnie Samuelsen as they visit a posted beach nesting bird site and look for migratory shorebirds in their beautiful plumage along the way. Optics will be on hand for viewing pleasure.
