Wakulla County Horseman’s AssociationWakulla County Horseman’s Association Contact: Katrina and Robert Cochran
The Wakulla County Horseman’s Association is now working in conjunction with the Wakulla County Parks and Recreation Department, and is in charge of scheduling events and maintaining the new Wakulla County Equestrian Center located on Lawhon Mill Road in Medart. The new facility hosts a bathhouse with modern bathroom facilities and a full size arena, with bleachers, handicap parking and a playground for the kids. The new Equestrian Center is a great venue for organizations to put on horse shows or other animal events or even host outdoor flea markets, expos, etc.
The Wakulla County Horseman’s Association is holding scheduled shows every 3rd Saturday from September thru May each year, taking the summer months of June, July and August off. Our shows offer a 3D Cloverleaf Jackpot barrel race with $100 added at every show, followed by our regular club classes, which are cloverleaf barrels, pole bending and arena race. We have different age groups, so there is a class for everyone. We encourage beginners, children and adults, to come to our shows and join our club! It has given many horses and riders the experience to learn to become horsewomen and horsemen for well over 20 years and some have went on to become champions in the horse world!
Feel free to contact any of the officers or e-mail Katrina Cochran @ email@example.com with questions. We also have a FaceBook page “Wakulla County Horseman’s Association” that keeps our current events listed and updated.
Wakulla County Property AppraiserWakulla County Property Appraiser Contact: Brad Harvey
The property appraiser is responsible for identifying, locating, and fairly valuing all property, both real and personal, within the county for tax purposes. The “market” value of real property is based on the current real estate market. Estimating the “market” value of your property means discovering the price most people would pay for your property in its current condition. What is important to remember is that the property appraiser does not create the value. People establish the value by buying and selling real estate in the market place. The property appraiser has the legal responsibility to study those transactions and appraise your property accordingly. The property appraiser also
- tracks ownership changes;
- maintains maps of parcel boundaries;
- keeps descriptions of buildings and property characteristics up to date;
- accepts and approves applications from individuals eligible for exemptions and other forms of property tax relief;
- Analyzes trends in sales prices, construction costs, and rents to best estimate the value of all assessable property.

Wakulla County School DistrictWakulla County School District Contact: Robert Pearce
Wakulla is a small, rural county located in the panhandle of Florida. It covers an area of 607 square miles with 89% of the land classified as commercial forest land, over one-half of which is a national forest and a wildlife refuge. As of 2016, county statistics show a population of 31,523. Wakulla is a bedroom community to Florida’s capital of Tallahassee, and the majority of Wakulla residents who work are employed there. Of those employed in Wakulla, the top four industries in rank order are education; retail; health care; and combined accommodations and food service.
With Wakulla County public schools not only as the most prolific employer, but also as the overwhelming choice of schooling by Wakulla parents, trust in Wakulla’s public education system is of paramount importance for students, parents, educators, businesses, and community members, most of whom are involved with the school system in some capacity. Meeting that challenge requires continuous thoughtful planning, focused implementation, and valid assessment of the outcomes. Using the input from all stakeholders in the decision-making process holds the Wakulla County school system to its primary long-range goals of preparing students for successful employment and involved citizenship.
Wakulla County School District has four elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school, one charter school, and The Wakulla Institute, which encompasses drop-out prevention programs and a virtual school. As of March 2016, the total population for pre-school through adult education was approximately 5,195 students.
Wakulla County Schools historically have scores that rank in the top ten in the state on Florida assessments. On national assessments such as the ACT, Wakulla students routinely achieve above both state and national levels. Grading of Florida school districts implemented by the Florida Department of Education has expanded over the years from assessing Reading and Math skills to include specific subject areas such as Civics and Biology. However the state assessments have changed over the years, the Wakulla County School District has remained constant in its high-performing delivery of instruction

Wave 94 is a locally-owned Christian radio station that features contemporary Christian music, current praise and worship music, local and national ministry programs, and local community programs. One of our goals is to help people fulfill Hebrews 13:15, “Let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise.”

We welcome local Christian ministers to consider buying airtime to add their teaching and preaching to our line-up. Wave 94 is non-denominational. We simply require that your teachings be grounded in the Bible and that you build people up without tearing anyone down.
