FREE Business Start up Classes



Want to start your own business but don’t know where to begin? TCC’s Wakulla Environmental Institute and FAMU Small Business Development Center will offer a FREE business basics workshop every Thursday in October from 6-7 p.m.

These workshops are open to everyone who is interested in opening their own business, and are held at TCC Wakulla Center in Crawfordville, 2932 Crawfordville Hwy.

Topics Include:


Oct. 1 – Getting Started – The ins and outs of different business types, their advantages and disadvantages and necessary paperwork for each business type

Oct. 8 – Managing your Finances – An introduction to bookkeeping, financial management tools and software, obtaining a business loan and filing IRS paperwork

Oct. 15 – Employing Workers – How to hire and fire employees, determine hourly verses salary positions, navigate federal insurance requirements and understand workers compensation

Oct. 22- Using Contracts and Legal Counsel – Learn about different contract types, drafting and negotiating contracts and find out when it’s necessary to contact a lawyer

Oct. 29- Marketing – How to create a business brand, use social media to advertise and engage with customers, and discover free/low cost marketing resources
