TCC Wakulla Center announces spring course schedule
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (January 4, 2010) – It’s a new year and a new semester at Tallahassee Community College’s Wakulla Center, and that means a new schedule of classes designed to increase participants’ employment skills.
The spring offerings at the TCC Wakulla Center represent a range of opportunities and some classes are free to Wakulla County residents. The semester features a lineup of advanced manufacturing courses that teach how to operate a CNC machining lathe, employability skills, fundamental manufacturing processes, maintenance awareness, quality assurance and safety awareness. These classes are free to Wakulla County residents and are intended for students seeking to gain the knowledge necessary for a career in manufacturing or for those already in the industry who want to expand and update their skills.
The Center is continuing its popular series of basic computer courses””offering classes on getting started with computers, e-mail and Internet fundamentals, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, File Management and QuickBooks. The Center’s computer classes are offered during daytime and evening sessions.
Beginning on February 21 and running through April 27, the TCC Wakulla Center’s Green Guide Certification Course is a program unique to Wakulla County. The program’s in-depth schedule of classes will prepare students for careers in ecotourism and environmental management. It uses Wakulla County’s distinct environmental resources as a backdrop for hands-on training with trips to natural areas such as Wakulla Springs, the Wakulla Sink Holes, and St. Marks National Refuge Wildlife Refuge. Classes in the 90-hour certificate program include Business Basics, Wakulla Landscape, Local History and Archeological Features, Birds of the Region, Ecosystems and more. Classes and field trips can also be taken individually.
