Florida Archaeology and Prehistory (GGL0107) Ref. #173061

This class will provide an in-depth look at the archaeology and history of the area and identify sites in the local area. Class discussion will include an introduction to early human development and the migration out of Africa, and what humans and their technologies brought to the new world. We will explore the effects the spread of humans had across North and South America, and the various cultural periods and artifacts of Florida. In addition, there will be a guided tour field trip to Letchworth-Love Archaeological State Park. The class will explore and discuss the local history which will include a tour of Florida’s tallest Native American ceremonial mound built between 1,100 and 1,800 years ago.
