2017 Annual Meeting
Talquin’s Annual Meeting is an event held once a year for all Members of the Cooperative. This event is aimed at giving Members the following:
- A report on the Cooperative’s activities and finances for the previous year
- A time to ask questions regarding Cooperative concerns
- An opportunity to participate in the process of managing the affairs of the Cooperative through the election of Trustees of the governing body for the coming year
- An opportunity to vote on proposed By-law changes that determine the governance of the Cooperative
Join the fun of being in a cooperative. Annual Meetings add a layer of enjoyment to managing your co-op. Mixing a social aspect into your voting and learning will enhance the value of your Cooperative.
Attendance at the Annual Meeting also provides valuable information about the Cooperative. This information is extremely useful in providing transparency and making Members more knowledgeable about the operations of the co-op.
Given that democratic control is a core principle of the cooperative structure, the democratic process embodied in the Annual Meeting of the Cooperative ensures that it serves its Members’ needs. The amount of a Member’s monetary investment in the cooperative does not affect the weight of each vote, so no member-owner can dominate the decision-making process. Talquin operates its elections on the one member/one vote principle.
Considering the importance of Talquin Electric to its Members, we encourage each Member to come take advantage of the wealth of information and resources provided at our Annual Meeting. We hope to see you all at our Annual Meeting on April 29. Talquin_Ad for newspaper
