Wakulla County Empty Bowls Food Project

Please consider sponsoring a bowl, purchasing a ticket to the event held November 3, 2012 at Hudson Park, or buying a raffle ticket for a John Deere tractor.

As members of the Wakulla community, everybody has a vested interest in ensuring there’s enough food to feed our hungry.   In fact, the issue of hunger in Wakulla has been such concern that the Wakulla News has dedicated extensively coverage to this matter in recent publications.

In response to this crisis, local churches have been hard at work in collecting and distributing donations of food to those in need.  Many non-perishables have been provided to these food pantries as a result of donations from families, individuals and youth in the community in coordination with the IFAS Extension…more Wakulla News hunger artile

Helping to feed people in need!

Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger.  The basic premise is simple: Potters and other craftspeople, educators and others work with the community to create handcrafted bowls. Guests are invited to a simple meal of soup and bread. In exchange for a cash donation, guests are asked to keep a bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world, and right here in Wakulla County. The money raised is used to buy food for the area’s food pantries.

Wakulla’s Empty Bowl will be produced with a high level of integrity; artists, more…Empty Bowl flyer
