TCC Offering Advanced Manufacturing Training

Tallahassee Community College’s (TCC) – Advanced Manufacturing Training Center (AMTC) has two exciting offerings this summer for individuals who are looking to expand their knowledge base in Continuous Improvement practices and Lean Principles regardless of industry or occupation. TCC is hosting two courses tailored to prepare you for national certification in these areas. Both certifications are portable, allowing you to take the verifiable knowledge with you, wherever you go. Both courses are available online so it’s possible to complete the program from anywhere. The best part is that because of a grant, we are offering this training free of charge. Individuals will have to complete a student informational packet in order to receive this free training.

Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA)

This is a 45 hour course that prepares you for the CQIA certification exam offered by the American Society of Quality (ASQ). The coursework is designed to provide an introduction to best practices in quality improvement. A quality improvement background is not needed. Participants will be provided the information to develop a toolkit for evaluating processes to recommend improvements. The CQIA course content is applicable to multiple disciplines throughout every industry sector.

  • Classes are twice a week, either a Monday/Wednesday or a Tuesday/Thursday schedule for approximately six weeks.
  • Class times are after work to accommodate for busy lifestyles, usually 6pm to 9pm.
  • The classes are streamed so you can attend from anywhere.

This course is applicable for individuals from all industries including: government; non-profits; healthcare; hospitality; accounting; retail services; insurance; public utilities; manufacturing; IT; construction; aviation and aerospace; transportation; and education.

Bronze Level Lean Certification

This is a 45 hour course that prepares you for the Bronze Level Lean certification exam offered by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). Participants can gain the knowledge to become familiar with the process of identifying and eliminating wasteful practices in a process-driven workplace. Continuous process improvement practices and developing a consistent lean culture are two of the key areas studied. A purposeful understanding of the Lean Principles is the goal of this class.
